Qian Jianmin, a 92-year-old veteran who was blinded during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, has finally realized his long-cherished dream of touching a modern armored vehicle. Accompanied by his daughter and PLA soldiers, Qian visited an armored troop in Jiangsu province on Dec. 13, touching China's most advanced armored vehicle, the Type-99 tank. Six tanks honked their horns to pay tribute to Qian. Qian's wish received widespread public support after a volunteer posted it online, and many people contacted the military to help the deserving veteran.

The Defence Headquarters has urged Nigerians to be wary as fleeing members of the Boko Haram terrorists from the Sambisa forest now disguise as menial workers, infiltrating villages in the North East. A statement by the acting defence spokesman, Gen. Rabe Abubakar on Tuesday in Abuja, said the escaping terrorists did that to attack communities and towns in the region. “Available information indicates that some fleeing Boko Haram terrorists are now disguising as menial workers to melt into communities and towns with a view to organising terrorists attack against our innocent citizens. “The unfortunate recent incidents in Madagali and Maiduguri are instructive. “The Defence Headquarters therefore advises citizens to be on the alert and be wary of these tricks of the defeated terrorists who are hell-bent on remaining relevant inspite of their lost battle,” the statement said. A cannibal who boldly posed naked next to a skeleton in the dungeon where he killed and ate a man has been found guilty of murder a second time – despite insisting his willing victim committed suicide. Ex-policeman Detlev Guenzel spent five hours chopping up the body of his politician victim and partially eating it. The victim’s penis and one testicle were never found, but the rest of his dismembered corpse was discovered in flowerbeds in Guenzel’s garden. The sick killer was convicted of murdering Wojciech Stempniewicz last year and sentenced to eight-and-a-half years behind bars. But he appealed, claiming he could not be found guilty of the Polish-born businessman’s murder because he had committed suicide. The prison term was overturned by the country’s supreme court, the Federal Court of Justice, earlier this year. Now a fresh trial has ended in Dresden with Guenzel having his imprisonment term extended by a month. The prosecution had sought a life sentence. ...

Young Murtaza Ahmadi was an online sensation in January when a picture of him wearing a plastic bag with 'Messi' scrawled on the back was circualted.     The Barcelona superstar sent a signed Argentina shirt to the child earlier this year, but has now gone a step further and met his biggest fan. While in Doha for a money-spinning friendly with Barca against Al Ahli, Messi posed for a picture with the youngster. "The image the world wanted to see," tweeted Qatar's World Cup organising committee. "The six-year-old boy who dreamed of meeting his hero, #Messi, finally comes true." Ahmadi was forced to flee the eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan in May, travelling to Pakistan.

Read the statement below... Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti has ordered that Governor Ayodele Fayose's accounts in Zenith Bank be defrozen with immediate effect. The accounts were frozen by the EFCC in June, this year. However, in his landmark judgment today, Justice Taiwo Taiwo described the EFCC action as illegal, wrongful, unlawful and unconstitutional. The judge said the EFCC action breached the governor's fundamental rights to fair hearing, as the commission did not make him a party to the proceedings for the interim freezing of the account. He said that the EFCC suppressed facts by not disclosing to the court that granted the interim freezing order that the two accounts that were frozen belonged to Governor who enjoys total constitutional immunity. Justice Taiwo also said that the EFCC did not provide any credible evidence empowering it to carry out the freezing of the accounts using Zenith Bank as a proxy, whereas, Zenith Bank is a mere custodian and no...
