Kano State Governor, Ganduje Meets With Students On Govt Scholarship In Egypt. Photos


The Executive Governor of Kano State His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR also visited the Kano State sponsored students in Mansourah University Egypt yesterday.
In his remarks, Governor Ganduje stated that he personally decided to visit the students studying in various universities across the world to see for himself the situation they're in. He said he is in Egypt to meet with both the students as well as the school management to ascertain the academic performance of the students and their overall behavior and attitude.

Governor Ganduje took time to explain to the students the economic situation in the country which has also affected the payment of their fees and allowances, stating that some states have ended the sponsoring of students abroad and returned their students home due to lack of resources as more than half of the states in Nigeria are struggling to pay salaries but Kano has been managing the situation well, as a result of increase in its revenue generation.

His Excellency promised to continue paying their fees and allowances till the end of their studies so they can return home and be gainfully employed in hospitals in the state. He informed them that his administration and their university management have reached an agreement for the payment of the fees installmentally. He ended by urging them to study harder and shun bad behavior and promised to look into some of their complaints relating to accommodation issue and the rest.

On their part, the students expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for coming all the way to Mansourah in Egypt to visit them, some of whom have not set eyes on their parents and relatives since leaving home. They also expressed their pleasure for the Governor's ability to keep paying for their studies despite the economic challenges being faced by the state and country at large. They urged the governor to look in to some of their challenges like the upgrading of their accommodation and the prompt payment of their allowances.

The Nigerian army said on Wednesday, that it had intercepted 37 people 37 people , who were suspected to be wives and children of the boko haram terrorists. The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Nigerian scholars sponsored by Lagos State Gov. arrive Finland for visit. Photo

A group of Nigerian youngsters sponsored by Lagos State Government and their coordinator, Professor Kolawole Raheem, were Thursday, received by head of unit; Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hannu Heinonen, at Finland. The participants, whose trip was funded by Lagos State Ministry of Education, were chosen based on their outstanding performance in school. The visit, however aims at enabling the youngsters have an experience of how the Finnish society works and to offer them the possibility of bringing positive examples back to Nigeria. The participants were especially interested in matters related to environment and construction, as well as the Finnish social security and education systems. These visits that have already become somewhat of a tradition are envisaged to continue in the coming years.
