Police Arrest One Of The Run-away Masterminds Of CBN Governor's Wife Kidnap. Pics

Against the background and consistent determination to ensure that the tempo of onslaught on crime and criminality are sustained throughout the country, the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has arrested the 10th gang member in the CBN Governor’s wife kidnap saga of September 2016, Umar Abubakar.

2. Umar Abubakar aka Kiriwa was trailed and arrested in Minna, Niger State on 9th December, 2016 consequent upon several weeks of monitoring and actionable intelligence gathering coupled with collaborative efforts of public spirited members of the community.

3. Umar Abubakar, one of the arrow heads of the dare devil kidnapping gang led detectives to two (2) houses and three plots of empty land he purchased with the proceeds of his share of the ransom.
4. The arrested kingpin confessed that he used three million naira (N3m), part of the ransom, to open a provision shop in Minna, Niger State which he was running with his wife. The original papers of the houses and plots of land have been recovered and registered as exhibits and the shop also sealed.

5. The Nigeria Police Force with the assistance and the support of the people will ensure that no crime committed will go undetected and perpetrators apprehended for justice and closure to prevail in the court of law.

6. The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni wishes to reassure members of the public of the readiness of the police under his leadership to deliver dedicated and quality policing services. He further urges all and sundry to be vigilant, provide useful information and report suspicious movements and activities to the police for prompt response.

The Nigerian army said on Wednesday, that it had intercepted 37 people 37 people , who were suspected to be wives and children of the boko haram terrorists. The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. A group of Nigerian youngsters sponsored by Lagos State Government and their coordinator, Professor Kolawole Raheem, were Thursday, received by head of unit; Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hannu Heinonen, at Finland. The participants, whose trip was funded by Lagos State Ministry of Education, were chosen based on their outstanding performance in school. The visit, however aims at enabling the youngsters have an experience of how the Finnish society works and to offer them the possibility of bringing positive examples back to Nigeria. The participants were especially interested in matters related to environment and construction, as well as the Finnish social security and education systems. These visits that have already become somewhat of a tradition are envisaged to continue in the coming years.
