We don’t olny belong to the kitchen – Aisha Buhari

Hajia Aisha Buhari seems to have uttered a veiled response to her husband’s description of her of belonging to the kitchen and the other room.

Aisha said Nigerian women had dynamic parts to play in the growth of the country.

Buhari’s wife spoke at the 5th edition of the National Women Summit organized by the Oyo State Officials’ Wives Association.

The summit had the theme, ‘The ultimate woman at a time like this.’

In her speech, Aisha Buhari praised the organizers of the event for deeming it fit to celebrate women as pillars of the nation.

She said, “A woman is the heart of any home and any nation.

“Whatever you teach a woman, you teach a nation.

“We all must strive to ensure that the life of the Nigerian woman is uplifted because a woman will always remain the pillar of the home and the nation.

In her speech, Ajimobi’s wife said the initiative had achieved a lot in the past five years.

“We have worked towards creating the ultimate woman.

“Now that we have her, how does she survive in a society such as ours?

“How does she survive in the face of the harsh current economic realities that stare us in the face?

“These issues and much more are what we hope to find answers to in the course of this year’s summit,” she said.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Ambode, commended the women for the initiative.

He described women as magicians who can make something out of nothing.

He said, “Women have strength and ability to rise despite their fragile look.

“The current economic challenges notwithstanding, our women are strong and can make something out of them.”
