Osinbajo approves appointment of 19 judges

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has approved the appointment of 19 judges for the National Industrial Court, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017.

This was disclosed by the National Judicial Council (NJC), through a statement released by its Director of Information, Soji Oye. He said in the statement that, "They will be sworn-in by the Honourable, The Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman, National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice W. S. N. Onnoghen, GCON, on Friday, 14th July, 2017, by 3.00pm at the Supreme Court of Nigeria."

The judges are: Namtari Mahmood Abba (Adamawa), Essien Isaac Jeremiah (Akwa-Ibom), Targema John Iorngee (Benue), Bassi Paul Ahmed (Borno), Elizabeth Ama Oji (Ebonyi), Ogbuanya Nelson S. Chukwud (Enugu), Mustapha Tijjani (Jigawa), Danjidda Salisu Hamisu (Kano), and Kado Sanusi (Katsina).

Others are: Opeloye Ogunbowale (Lagos), Galadima Ibrahim Suleiman (Nasarawa), Bashir Zaynab Mohammed (Niger), Adeniyi Sinmisola Oluyinka (Ogun), Arowosegbe Olukayode Ojo (Ondo), Abiola Adunola Adewemimo (Osun), Damulak Kiyersohot Dashe (Plateau), Nweneka Gerald Ikechi (Rivers), Alkali Bashar Attahiru (Sokoto), and Hamman Idi Polycarp (Taraba).They were all appointed from 19 different states of the country.

Nigerian Army Intercepts 37 Wives And Children Of Boko Haram Terrorists

The Nigerian army said on Wednesday, that it had intercepted 37 people 37 people , who were suspected to be wives and children of the boko haram terrorists. The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, said in a statement that 30 of the escapees, which comprises of eight women and 22 children, were intercepted on Tuesday at Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe. He said; “On preliminary interrogation, the suspects claimed to have escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ custody at Kafa and Abagajiri villages in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno,’’ The army spokesman added that seven other people were intercepted on Tuesday, at Kamunya, Yobe state. “They claimed that they escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ hideout at Goropcha village, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno. “Both sets of escapees are currently being screened and profiled,’’ he said.
