Military will rescue more Chibok girls, saysCSO

 ​ Civil Society Organization, Africa Arise for Change Network has expressed optimism that the militay will rescue more of the Chibok Girls from their Boko Haram captors in the days ahead. The group also demanded an apology from former President Goodluck Jonathan and Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose for leading a propaganda to make Nigerians think that the Chibok girls saga was a hoax. Addressing journalists in Abuja, National Coordinator of the group, Nkechi Odoma commended the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the military for the sustained onslaught against the insurgents and the rescue of two chibok girls. Nigeria to establish N5bn world class medical research centre

The Institute of Human Virology, IHVN, and Access Bank Plc, yesterday, unveiled plans to establish a N5 billion world class Medical Research Centre for infectious and non infectious diseases on Nigerian soil. Some of the diseases expected to be researched into include HIV&AIDS, tuberculosis, Lassa fever, cancer, among others. The centre will be under the leadership of Professor Alash’le G. Abimiku, a distinguished scientist and will be used to create an enabling environment for creative thinking and innovation in science to address Nigeria’s and global health priorities. Fuel price hike: NLC faction, CSOs berated over failed protests

     The Coalition of Civil Society Against Corrupt Persons in Nigeria has berated the Comrade Ayuba Wabba-led faction of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and its Civil Society Organisations allies over what it described as failed protests against the increase in the price of petrol, saying it shows they are out of tune with the thinking and yearnings of Nigerians.          A statement by the coalition’s National President, Linus Ejilogo, on Friday, said the days when labour leaders ride on popular demands to blackmail and extort the government for personal interests are over. Govs seek access to $3.2bn World Bank funds

      Governors of the 36 states of the federation are seeking to access about $3.2 billion from the World Bank to curtail the fiscal challenges facing them. The revelation was made, yesterday ,by the Governors’ Forum after a meeting with officials of the bank at Presidential Villa in Abuja, Wednesday night. The meeting was convened by the Nigeria Governors Forum. Chairman of the forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, told journalists that the forum decided to invite the Country Director of World Bank, Rachid Benmessaoud, to brief them on the money in the World Bank which largely belonged to state governments but could not access. Yari said because of the cumbersome procedure in accessing the funds, most of the governors did not even know they had such funds in the bank.
