The Nigerian army said on Wednesday, that it had intercepted 37 people 37 people , who were suspected to be wives and children of the boko haram terrorists. The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, said in a statement that 30 of the escapees, which comprises of eight women and 22 children, were intercepted  on Tuesday at Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe. He said; “On preliminary interrogation, the suspects claimed to have escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ custody at Kafa and Abagajiri villages in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno,’’ The army spokesman added that seven other people were intercepted on Tuesday, at Kamunya, Yobe state. “They claimed that they escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ hideout at Goropcha village, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno. “Both sets of escapees are currently being screened and profiled,’’ he said.

Trailer drivers have unleashed mayhem in Apapa area of Lagos state after a policeman attached to one of the banks in the area reportedly shot dead three policeman forcing other drivers to protest. Two banks operating Apapa were, on Wednesday set ablazed after a policeman attached to Diamond Bank on Burma Road allegedly shot dead some trailer drivers. The mob also set a Sterling Bank branch on Wharf Road ablaze. It was gathered that the trailer drivers had indiscriminately parked in front of the bank. Angered by the killing and the bank’s refusal to hand over the policeman to them, the driver’s colleagues moved to set the bank ablaze, destroying properties and other valuables. Policemen from Rapid Response Squad, anti-riot squad and Area B command, as well as operatives from the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECEOFT have been deployed to the scene of the incident. Photos Below:

A man named Stanley Arinze has been arrested by the Kano Police command for trying to smuggle hard drugs(tramadol) into Niger state. The man who is a native of Anambra State reportedly supplies Tramadol tablets to Kano and Republic of Niger. The tablets worth N19, 200,000 were intercepted after being concealed inside LG Plasma TV Cartons in a trailer along Kano Eastern bye_pass. The tramadol tablets were well concealed in the yellow plasma cartons, he hid so well that one won’t be able to know. The Kano police force were able to apprehend the suspect based on tip off from a reliable source.

Peter Okoye (P’square) has reacted the recent calls for his arrest made by the APC Youth Renaissance group. The group, in a statement signed by its national secretary, Collins Edwin, described Peter Okoye as a “son of darkness” for ‘insulting on the Federal government of Nigeria’ over abroad video shooting ban. A woman in China has reportedly lost her life to having four abortions in a year after her husband insisted on having a son. The woman, Yueyue had previously borne a girl and was instructed by her husband to terminate the pregnancy anytime she conceived a girl, according to Chinese media. Her husband was reported to have proposed a divorce earlier this year after the woman had been left bedridden by the traumatic medical operations. According to a report on Huanqiu.com, the woman gave birth to a baby girl in Shengangzhen of Wuhu, Anhui Province but her husband wanted a boy. So the couple started trying for another baby and Yueyue fell pregnant, her husband requested her to undergo an ultra-sound scan to identify the gender of the unborn baby. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is reporting that no fewer than six explosions rocked Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State late Tuesday night. According to NAN, said that the explosions occurred between 10:45 and 11 pm. About four explosives were said to have been detonated almost simultaneously while two others went off about 15 minutes later. Witnesses disclosed that the explosions could be heard over a wide range across the metropolis shaking the roof of several houses. It is not clear where the blast occurred as none of the security official spokespersons was available for comments. A security source told NAN that soldiers had fired an artillery at a convoy of suspected Boko Haram insurgents who were trying to attack the city which caused series of explosions. There has been an increase in the number of blasts in the city lately. On Monday where 12 persons were said to have died.

The police in Niger State have arrested two persons allegedly responsible for the kidnap of students of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna. Police spokesman Bala Elkana said the suspects were responsible for the kidnap of three FUT Minna students. He added that the police is on the trail of two others who are on the run. It was learnt the suspects – Abraham Jatto, (30) from Edo State, and Idowu Mafe, (29) from Ogun State, have been on the police’ wanted list. Mafe, who claimed to be a graduate of the University of Ilorin, regretted his action, saying it was the quest to make money that led him into it. He said: “When the issue of getting a Dubai job came up, my parents could not afford the N750,000 demanded from us, and Abraham raised the issue of kidnapping which led us to this predicament. A 74-year-old man in Kano, Ashiru Suleiman allegedly assaulted his f4-yr-old granddaughter and was caught as he attempted to assault his neighbour’s 5-yr-old. The suspect has been since been remanded in prison custody by a Kano Magistrate court for alleged crime. Dailypost reports that Suleiman, who was charged under section 283 of the Penal Code Law, lured his victims into former Shari’ah court’s building at Rijiyar Lemo to commit the offence. The case was reported to the police by one Suleiman Muhammad, the charge sheet, said. “Suleiman criminally deceived and lured his granddaughter and his neighbour’s daughter, aged 5, into Shari’ah court premises and rsexually assaulted his grandoughter. He was caught while trying to assault the second girl,” it added. The court also heard that the victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the violation. A woman with leukaemia at the centre of a campaign to allow her donor Nigerian sister to come to the UK has died. Martha Williams, 26, travelled to the UK to donate stem cells to 24-year-old May Brown. The Home Office reversed a decision not to issue Ms Williams a visa after more than 60,000 signed an online petition. The transplant was deemed a success in March. But the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) said Mrs Brown died on Friday following a relapse. It added she passed away “surrounded by her loved ones”. May Brown is survived by her husband Mike and two-year-old daughter Selina-May The operation was postponed from December to January after Mrs Brown, from Weymouth, became unwell with a virus and required further chemotherapy, ACLT said.
