An aide to the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Professor Claudius Daramola has tendered his resignation over unpaid salaries. The Special Assistant to the Minister, Nathaniel Adojutelegan, resigned his appointment on December 8, 2016. A Kaduna market has been shut down by men of the Nigerian Police after a fight broke out over an Igbo trader’s choice of name for his dog. The new Panteka market along the Nnamdi Azikiwe bypass in Kaduna which is the major spare parts centre in the state was reported to have witnessed exchange of punches after an Igbo trader allegedly named his dog Muhammad. An eyewitness, Aminu Ibrahim, who spoke to news source revealed that trouble started when one Muhammad bought a dog and named it Ibere after an Igbo trader which made the Igbo trader choose Mohammed as the name for his new dog. Aminu Ibrahim told Daily Trust: “Since the boy named the dog after the trader, the trader had warned him on several occasions to rename the dog, but the owner of the dog Muhammad refused. “The Igbo trader, Ibere also bought a dog and named it Muhammad, this is when all hell was let loose.” Following the christening of the dog, Muhammed, a fight erupted between the Igbo and the Hausa traders in t

A Malaysia-based Nigerian national identified by friends as Chimaobi (aka Paco Jelapa Na Mlaysia) is dead in a suspected case of suicide. His friend Evangelist Uzodinma, who shared the story on Facebook, revealed that Chimaobi, who reportedly is from Ideato in Imo State, jumped out of the window of his 31st floor condo. The Federal Government has authorized the release of N1.6 billion for the National Women’s Empowerment Fund. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo said this Wednesday on the occasion of the 2017 International Women’s Day. Osinbajo said the present administration was committed to protecting all women from all forms of gender-based violence, especially those living “where the security situation is difficult and living conditions are challenging.” The acting president assured that the Federal Government was determined to ensure that Nigerian women lived to fulfill their aspirations in a peaceful and prosperous country. “On International Women’s Day, I would like to, on behalf of the President, government and people of Nigeria, recognise and appreciate the very valuable work done, and role played by women in our country, over the years, since the struggle for independence,” he stated. Eze Ndigbo in China, His Royal Highness, Igwe Henry Chibueze Onwughalu has passed away. According to reports, Igwe Henry suffered a stroke and had been in a coma few days before his death in the early hours of Wednesday, March 8th. The businessman and philanthropist hailed from Adazi Ani in Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. He was building a house before he died. Rudy Francis, a 35yr old Malaysian ecologist escaped death by the whiskers after he was attacked by a huge 18ft crocodile during a routine feeding session at a crocodile farm in Sandakan, East Malaysia on February 20. Colleagues had to pull him from the jaws of death during the attack in which he lost his right arm and leg. He was rushed to the hospital and had a cardiac arrest but survived. He narrates his ordeal in a film, titled, 'I survived a Crocodile Attack,' the clip includes footage from last December which shows Mr Francis hand-feeding a crocodile from a bucket. A statement in English released alongside the video describes the horrific attack, during which the croc lunged at Mr Francis. The beast attacked Mr Francis and dragged him underwater but the ecologist did his best break free, he initially escaped but then slipped as he tried to scramble out of the water and the crocodile pounced again.  What could easily have been tragedy was immortalised in photographic memory as a wedding to remember.  Shane McCollow, 29, and his bride, Krissi, 26, were on their way to the Little Brown Church in Iowa for their big day when the bus full of a dozen wedding attendees grew unbearably hot. Soon smoke began to creep into the bus forcing the wedding party to evacuate, not long after, one of the tyres exploded engulfing the vehicle in flames.  Krissi said: 'I just knew something wasn't right because of the smell and smoke.' Wedding photographer McKaila Hanna said: 'We started to get a lot of smoke, it was almost like an exhaust smoke, kind of halfway until we got there. It was so smoky by the time we got there. It was pretty rough.'  Hanna encouraged the party to pose for wedding photos with the flaming bus in the background and when the firemen arrived, they happily posed for photos too. A group of at least eight robbers disguising as Police have carried out a robbery at O. R. Tambo International Airport in South Africa, reports say. The robbers wearing police uniforms were said to have driven into a restricted zone on Tuesday evening and headed straight to cash-laden containers unloaded from a cargo plane. According to a Times Live report, they made away with $15 million which was about to be loaded onto an aircraft bound for London. After the robbery incident, the unidentified robbers escaped through the same entrance at the airport. However, police have confirmed the robbery and suspect it to be an inside job. While a police source who spoke to BBC described the robbery as looking like 'something scripted from a Hollywood movie.'

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra on Wednesday said the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu would have waged another war against the country should he be alive over the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Yesterday,Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state declared a two day curfew in Ile-Ife over alleged clashes between  Hausa and Yoruba communities  in the state which has led to the death of five people. In a statement signed by Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, the Director of Communications and Strategy, office of the Osun state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, it said “the curfew, which will be between 6pm to 7am, takes effect from today Wednesday March, 8th, 2017 and will be in force till Friday.”
