Why EFCC arrested ex-Imo gov, Achike Udenwa

     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, On tuesday, arrested a former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa, for allegedly receiving N350m from the Director of Finance, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman. Udenwa, who was quizzed for several hours by the EFCC was however, released later, after promising to cooperate fully with the anti-graft agency, said a source who pleaded not to be mentioned. The money was said to have emanated from the account of the Central Bank of Nigeria. About N4bn was deposited into the account of Usman, who then disbursed the money to several politicians in the build-up to the 2015 presidential elections.

Imo Assembly: Deputy Majority leader removed

         OWERRI – The All Progressives Congress, APC, caucus in Imo State House of Assembly, has summarily removed the member for Onuimo state constituency, Mr. Chinedu Offor, as the Deputy Majority Leader of the House. Announcing the change during plenary, the Speaker, Chief Acho Ihim, also said that the member representing Obowo constituency, Mr. Kennedy Ibe, is the new Deputy Majority Leader. Meanwhile, a six-man panel headed by the Deputy Speaker, Chief Ugonna Ozuruigbo, has been set up to investigate the activities of the three lawmakers recently suspended by the Assembly. The other members of the probe panel includes Marcel Odumze, Arthur Egwim, Mrs. Uche Ejiogu and Emma Orie. The Speaker, who announced this during plenary, lambasted protesters that barricaded the Assembly gate last Thursday, demanding immediate recall of the three suspended lawmakers. 6th Anniversary: Jonathan pays tribute to Yar’adua, says I lost a partner in democracy

     Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday, paid glowing tribute to his late boss, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who passed on May 5, 2010, exactly six years ago. Jonathan who took to his Facebook page to eulogise Yar’adua, described him as a servant leader and a stickler for the rule of law. Ex-President Jonathan lamented that he had lost a dear friend and partner in democracy, peace and progress, six years ago. He said: “Six years ago, I lost a dear friend and partner in democracy, peace and progress. President Umaru Musa Yar’adua was a servant leader and a stickler for the rule of law. “He may be gone but he is never to be forgotten. Buhari set to embark on another foreign trip

Daily Trust has obtained information that President Muhammadu Buhari is set to depart Nigeria on May 6 for the official visit to France. The details of the state visit are yet to be made public, meanwhile, sources said President Buhari would sign the budget immediately before he travels. At the same time the Federal government has outlined “34 strategic priority programmes and projects” that it intends to achieve beginning with the 2016 budget.
