The Federal Government has granted officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC, the authority to carry arms while on duty. Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, disclosed this while speaking at the end of the year management strategy session for the parastatal in Abuja this weekend.  According to Oyeyemi, the need for the officers to bear arms arose from the increased number of violent attacks and killing of some of its operatives while on duty. According to Oyeyemi,  over 70 of its personnel have been killed in 2016 alone as a result of violent attacks by angry motorists. Oyeyemi said the FRSC Establishment Act gives power to the corps to bear arms and that the Federal Government had earlier approved that, with about 5,000 personnel already undergoing training on firearms. “The Act gives power to the Corps to bear arms and 5,000 of our personnel have been trained. Presidency replies Emir of Kano after he berated the Federal government for seeking $30bn loan

Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, on Friday berated the President Buhari-led government for seeking to borrow $30 billion from International financial institutions. At a policy dialogue forum organised by Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development in Abuja, the Emir stated that nobody in the International community will borrow Nigeria such an amount of money. A retired police Inspector and his wife were shot dead on Saturday morning by suspected armed robbers, while they were on their way back to Taraba State after the NKST Church World-wide Choir conference held at Jaki, Kwande LGA of Benue State on Friday. Speaking to IDOMAVOICE, an eyewitness Iorsalen Terver,  said: "I stopped at Gawa at about 8:14 this morning to buy some foodstuffs on my way to Bali to buy yams when some young men walked to men saying its better to get the yams in the evening when the market is closing. Fake U.S. Embassy busted in Ghana after a decade of issuing visas to intending travelers

A fake United States Embassy has been busted in Ghana after operating illegally for a decade.  According to a statement released by the U.S. State Department, the sham embassy operated in Accra in a run-down, pink, two-storey building with a corrugated iron roof and flew a U.S. flag outside. Inside the office is a portrait of President Barack Obama.  It was operated by a cartel that issued illegally obtained but legitimate visas. “It was not operated by the United States government, but by figures from both Ghanaian and Turkish organised crime rings and a Ghanaian attorney practicing immigration and criminal law,” the State Department said in its statement Turkish citizens, who spoke English and Dutch, posed as consular officers and staffed the operation. Former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Bola Kuforiji-Olubi, has died. She died in Lagos yesterday December 3rd at the age of 80. Born on September 28th 1936, the deceased who was onetime ICAN president, graduated from the University of London in 1963. She was appointed the first female chairman of the United Bank for Africa, UBA in 1984 by President Buhari who was a military Head of State. U.S President-elect Donald Trump has assembled wealthy corporate and financial executives, including top Nigerian entrepreneur Adebayo Ogunlesi to provide him with economic advice. Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has shut down his cement plant in Tanzania due to high energy costs and a technical glitch at the $500 million factory, according to a government source, who confirmed reports in Tanzanian media. Executives at Dangote Industries Tanzania have recently complained about the government’s failure to provide the company with cheap fuel and other logistical solutions.
