Auwal Ismaeela, a top Boko Haram commander, has surrendered and confessed to leading the squads that abducted the Chibok girls in 2014. Ismaeela said he was tired of the “senseless” atrocities of the insurgent group, hence his decision to surrender. PRNigeria reported that  the Boko Haram commander expressed regrets over his actions and said he was cooperating with the Nigerian military with information on locations and hideouts of other top commanders. Two legal practitioners have accused policemen from the Ogun State Police Command of assault, saying they were beaten for alleged disrespect to the Ijebu Ode Police Area Commander , ACP Funsho Ajao. According to PUNCH,  the victims – Adekoya Adebayo and Sola Ajisebutu – had gone to a bar at Molipa , in the Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State , to meet a client for a business discussion. After the discussion , the owner of the bar reportedly took Adebayo to Ajao ’ s seat in the pub , seeking to start a relationship between the lawyer and the police boss. However , after the introduction went awry , Adebayo stormed out of the bar and was about entering into his car when a policeman allegedly accosted him. Wife of the Vice President of Nigeria, Pastor Dolapo Osinbajo, has recounted how she spent about 10 years with street urchins under several notorious Lagos bridges in a bid to reshape their lives. A photo of a dad who tried saving his family after they were hit by Storm Harvey by putting them in a refrigerator in order to stay afloat has gone viral.  The city of Houston was hit with a 30in of rain (75cm) in the wake of Hurricane Harvey over the weekend, causing roads to turn to rivers. The area is said to have received a year's rainfall within a week. 

On Sunday, 27th August, 2017, the Imo state chapter of the Barr. Charles Ezekwem-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid heart wrenching sympathy and condolence visits to the families of the victims of the demolition of the ancestral Eke Ukwu Owerre International Market, in the capital city of Imo state of Nigeria, Owerri. The delegation of PDP members and faithfuls led by the Secretary of Imo PDP, Hon. Ray Emeana visited the family of Mr Isaiah Ibeanusi, the father of late Somtochukwu Ibeanusi (only son), the nine-year old boy who was shot dead by security forces while on his way to the market being forcefully demolished by the Rochas Okorocha/Madumere/Nwosu and APC-led government of Imo state against the wishes of the people and a court order restraining the government from doing so. On arrival, the PDP delegation met the family that was very bitter, pained and sad at the murder of their innocent son, with the father, mother, family members and friends crying uncontrollably.

Vegan activists staged a protest in Trafalgar Square, London, against the human consumption of meat, Saturday.In the protest, some members of anti-meat groups were seen lying down covered in fake blood and plastic wrap to resemble meat sold in supermarkets. It is part of a global call to end “speciesism” or the belief that animals do not have rights and do not need to be respected because they belong to another species. The protest organized by Direct Action Everywhere also made a sensational headline in China.

But none has shaken him half as much as that of women carrying the pains of pregnancy for years. At his recently concluded crusade in Umuahia, Abia State, a woman who had been pregnant for so many years finally heaved a sigh of relief. Her pregnancy was alleged to have lingered for well over three years and counting.
