CAF disqualifies AS Vita from Champions League

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday said it had disqualified AS Vita of Congo from the 2016 Champions League. A statement on CAF website said that the decision was taken at a meeting by the CAF Organising Committee for Inter-clubs Competitions. It said that the committee reviewed a complaint by Stade Malien (Mali) on the eligibility of a player, Idrissa Traore, used by AS Vita (DR Congo). According to the statement, Traore was used by the Congolese Club in the preliminary matches of the 2016 Orange CAF Champions League. CAF said that the player featured for the Malian club during the 2015 season, and whilst at Stade Malien, the CAF’s Disciplinary Board handed him a four-match suspension. According to the statement, the player only served one match ban while he carried the remaining three matches over to the next competition with the Congolese club. Two Nigerian men arrested in India for cheating women through matrimonial sites and social media sites

Two Nigerian nationals were arrested on Sunday, May 22, by Delhi police for defrauding a woman out of a large sum of money. The duo lure women through matrimonial sites and social media sites and induced them to transfer money in fake bank accounts on the pretext of customs charges. The men identified as Ozoemena Michael Izuchukwu and Ekwenze Friday, did not have valid visa documents and after their arrests were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. Police have recovered three mobile phones, three laptops and a register from them. The duo were arrested on a complaint lodged by a woman, who claimed that she had a profile on a matrimonial site and had come in contact with a person, who claimed to be a US citizen. She said that they stayed in touch through e-mails and phones. Shocked tourists who camped out at night - wake up to see Lions licking the outer part of their tent

Francie Francisca Lubbe and her partner who were on holiday, set up a tent to pass the night in the Mabuasehube game reserve, Botswana. They did and woke up to the shock of their lives. It had rained overnight and when they opened their eyes in the morning, they saw a number of lionesses outside, licking the dew off the sides of their flimsy tent and also wandering about. They were able to stabilize themselves and remain calm and thankfully the two animals seemed more interested in licking the dew off the sides of their tent rather than attacking them. Troops comb Bayelsa creeks for militants who attacked Agip pipeline nijanewsland.blogspot.com.ng Troops of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC), yesterday, stormed the creeks of Bayelsa State in search of the fleeing suspected bombers of a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in Ikienghenbiri community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. NSCDC operatives arrived at the area on speedboats and gunboats and moved to adjoining creeks to locate the whereabouts of suspects identified as Suoyou, Iyelawei and Fynboy. The suspects were said to have fled the community following the Sunday’s attack on Agip’s Tebidaba-Brass pipeline that passed through the area. The suspects allegedly destroyed the trunkline with dynamites causing massive fire and thick smoke that unsettled the community.
