Buhari writes Senate: Osinbajo is Acting President

      PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, told the Senate that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will act on his behalf as President for the 11 days he would be on medical vacation to the United Kingdom, UK. I n a letter to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, President Buhari said he was writing in line with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. According to the letter, which was read at plenary yesterday by Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided, the President said he would be away from June 6 to 16. The letter read: “In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, I wish to inform the distinguished Senate that I will be away on a short medical vacation from June 6 to 16, and while I am away, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, will perform the functions of my office. “Please, accept, as always assurances of my highest esteemed consideration.” It would be recalled that President Buhari had, last week

POST UTME Scrapped By FG, NUC Announces New Screening Method (SHARE THIS) POST UTME Scrapped by FG is no longer news. A Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Peter Okebukola, has disclosed that the scrapping of Post-UTME means that tertiary institutions will now go back to the agreement NUC had with Vice-Chancellors in 2004 when it introduced Post-UTME which is to screen candidates on oral interview and written essay. He pointed out that tertiary institutions were not suppose to conduct screening for candidates similar to that of JAMB as that was the part of the agreement guiding the introduction of Post-UTME. He lamented that tertiary institutions have since deviated from that agreement.
