What Niger Delta Leaders Demanded From Buhari Today In Aso Rock

Niger Delta leaders, under the auspices of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday and presented a 16-point demand to him. They said the 16 points were where “quick wins” could be achieved to restore hope and confidence in a region that has “grown skeptical of dialogue and engagements that have hardly produced tangible results”. The demands include allocation of oil blocs to natives of the region, maritime university, stop of military occupation of communities and proper funding of the amnesty programme. The demands also include extension of Ogoni clean-up to other areas of the region, employment opportunities for trained ex-militants and support for internally displaced persons in the region. Other demands are relocation of international oil companies that have their head offices in Lekki and other places back to their areas of operations, infrastructural development, manpower and human resources development, federalism, among others. Wanted Drug Trafficker Arrested With Cocaine In Onitsha After Tip Off

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra on Tuesday said it arrested a 56-year-old man for allegedly been in possession of 239.8gm of cocaine and 119.2gm of heroin. Mr Inalegwu Ameh, Assistant Commander Operations and Intelligence of the agency, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka. He said that the suspect, Chike Ananti, was arrested on Oct. 23 in Onitsha following a tip off. He said that the suspect, an ex-convict of the same offence, had been on the wanted list of the agency for long time. According to him, the suspect relocated from the state when he discovered that the agency was after him and had been operating the illegal business. Ameh said that the arrest was part of efforts of the command to ensure that the state was free of crime and criminality. Three robbery suspects have fallen to the superior fire power of the police during a gun duel in Warri, Delta State. It was gathered that operatives of the Anti-Robbery Squad from A-Division, under the Warri Area Command, received a distress call on Sunday, that robbers were operating somewhere along Warri/Sapele road. The robbery suspects, a witness said, had earlier robbed one Ozeiro Frederick, at his Infinity Bar and Restaurant situated at No 4, Ighogbadu road, Warri. Ozeiro was said to have been robbed at around 2:00p.m before the police received a distress call at 3:30p.m. The sum of N300, 000, three handsets, and other valuables were allegedly collected from the hotelier at gun point,. Senate Votes Against Buhari’s Ambassadorial Nominees, Rejects Buhari’s $30bn Loan Request

‎A majority of senators on Tuesday voted against considering President Muhammadu Buhari’s ambassadorial nominees, but Senate President Bukola Saraki vetoed it. Saraki put to vote the consideration of the nominees twice, but more senators shouted “nay” than “aye.” At first, when more senators shouted “nay”, Saraki said: “Please colleagues let’s be serious. I will put it to vote again.” He did a second time, the “nays” were louder, but he ruled: “The ayes have it.” Meanwhile, the Senate has rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s external borrowing plan of $30bn for the execution of projects from 2016 to 2018. The nays had it when the borrowing plan was put to a vote on the floor of the chamber during the plenary on Tuesday. The borrowing plan was not debated at all.

A Chinese man has been branded the country's very own Spider-Man after he climbed up a building with his bare hands to save a child. Amazing footage captured in Liaocheng, a city in the east of China's Shandong Province, shows Liang Lei scaling several floors to grab the boy. The unnamed two-year-old child was dangling out of the window by his neck, having got caught between two bars. According to reports, the youngster was home along when he attempted to climb out of the window, before getting snagged in the security bars. Lei rushed to the young boy's aid after hearing screams for help after a crowd of local residents gathered below the boy at street level. Lei held on to the boy until a locksmith was able to unlock the door to the flat and let both of them in.

240 Boko Haram Terrorists Voluntarily Surrender To Nigerian Army

No fewer than 240 Boko Haram fighters have voluntarily surrendered to the Nigerian Army after they came under intense fire from troops, authorities said Monday. “The firepower of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) ground troops and joint Air operation during the Operation GAMA AIKI forced a massive defection of remnants of the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT),” the Chief Military Public Information Officer, Muhammad Dole, said in a statement. “Sustained offensive operations and blockage of logistics supply routes made the terrorists’ locations untenable; as a result, BHT and their families abandoned their locations and surrendered with their arms to the nearest locations of the ground forces in the operation areas.” Mr. Dole, a colonel, said the mass defection took place in Bagasola town, in neighbouring Chad, considered by troops as Sector 2 Area of Responsibility (AOR). At Least 2 Dead After Suspected Cultists Go On Rampage In Rivers Community.

Two persons have been killed in a cult clash in Konor Community, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State. The Rivers Police Command confirmed the killing of the suspected cultists on Monday. They were reportedly killed in a gun battle between rival cults groups. Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, told Channels Television that the two victims were killed around midnight. According to him, normalcy has returned to the area, as more police officials have been deployed to add to the security presence already on ground. The Police Command further warned persons still indulging in such criminal activities to desist or be ready to face justice.

President Buhari To Meet Niger Delta Leaders In Abuja Today

The meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the Niger Delta leaders will hold on Tuesday (today) in Abuja. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, had on Monday, described the meeting as contentious due to the controversies it generated among Niger Delta leaders. Kachikwu, however, said that despite the increased controversy, negotiations would continue until the unrest and militancy in the oil-rich region were adequately resolved. African Migrants Force Their Way Through Barbed Wire Fence Into Spain

About 220 African migrants on Monday forced their way through a barbed wire fence into Spain’s North African enclave of Cueta, clashing with Spanish police who tried to prevent them from crossing the border with Morocco. 32 migrants were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries after they pushed their way through two gates, while three Spanish policemen were also treated. Several of the migrants collapsed from exhaustion after crossing into Spanish territory. Spain’s two enclaves in Morocco, Ceuta and Melilla, have been favoured entry points into Europe for African migrants, who either climb over their border fences or swim along their coastlines.
