A plastic surgeon in China has successfully grown an artificial ear on a man's arm in a pioneering medical procedure. The patient, surnamed Ji, lost his right ear in an accident and yearned to have it back, reports Huanqiu.com, an affiliation to People's Daily. Doctor Guo Shuzhong from a hospital in Xi'an, China's Shaanxi Province, used Mr Ji's cartilage from his ribs to build the new ear; and he expects to transplanted the organ to the man's head in about four months.. According to the Huanqiu report, Mr Ji sustained serious injuries in the right side of his face in a traffic accident about a year ago. His right ear was torn from his face. The man, whose age is not specified, has since received multiple surgical operations to restore his facial skin and his cheeks. However, he felt frustrated about losing his right ear for good. Troops of Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe (ODS) have clashed with militants believed to be members of the Niger Delta Avengers in the creeks of Delta State. The troops of Sector 1 of ODS were said to have encountered the militants and engaged them in a gun duel at the Batan-Egwa creeks in Warri South-west Local Government Area of the state. The operatives were reportedly deployed in an outpost of the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC) to protect the facilities of the firm when they saw two 200 horsepower boats conveying the militants. The Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre (JMCC) of ODS, Lt. Col. Olaolu Dauda, confirmed the encounter in a statement in Yenagoa but said the troops repelled the militants. “They came in 200 horsepower speed capacity boats but were subsequently engaged and repelled. No fewer than 40 miners have been killed, while several others sustained serious injuries when they were attacked in Bindi town, in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State by suspected herdsmen. Eyewitness told Metro that the hoodlums had invaded a mining site Monday afternoon and began to shoot sporadically at the miners. “They were shooting sporadically. Even those inside the mining pits were not spared too. After the shooting spree, we counted 40 bodies, while several others were injured. It was gathered that afterwards, the hoodlums who had AK-47 rifles zoomed off on their motorcycles heading towards the forest. A Chinese toddler has survived a horrific accident after he fell onto a power plug which became stuck in his brain. The two-year-old boy, reported to be called Chen Chen (not his real name), was playing at his home in Guangzhou when the tragedy occurred last Saturday, according to Chinese media. Doctors have successfully removed the plug from his head after a three-hour-long operation. According to the report on xkb.com, little Chen Chen was playing on the bed at around 11pm on November 5 in the family's rented home. His mother claimed that Chen Chen lost his footing after stepping on a plastic ball, which led the toddler to fall off the bed. The child fell right onto a power plug which became stuck in his head. Shocked, his family immediately took him to the hospital. Doctors said the three contacts of the power plug had inserted into Chen Chen's brain and a surgical operation was needed at once. An elderly passenger fainted during the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) counter-terrorism exercise held on Tuesday, November 8th, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The man, who is believed to be hypertensive fainted when he heard the sound of gunshots. However, a team of paramedics were on hands to rescue him. A young woman tried to crash the wedding of the man she claimed to be the father of her newborn son. The incident happened in the town hall of the Peruvian city of Chimbote where a group wedding had been organised last weekend. Some 84 pairs participated in the ceremony and were greeted by the mayor, Julio Cortez Rojas. But when resident Ever Franco Rojas came in with his future wife, things took an unexpected turn as 19-year-old Yeli Fernandez Lozano came to the ceremony alongside her sister and new born baby.
