EFCC has frozen over N8, 627,458,773.36 billion in three accounts of Hajiya Muinat Bola Shagaya, an associate and friend of a former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan. Shagaya’s relationship with about 10 firms/account names are also being investigated by the anti-graft agency, TheNation learnt yesterday. But Shagaya, who did not hold any public appointment during the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has dragged Unity Bank to the High Court of Lagos State for allowing the EFCC to Post No Debit (PND) on her accounts without a valid court order. She says the action taken on her accounts violates Section34 (1) of the EFCC Act, 2004. Besides, the withdrawal ban placed on one of her accounts has prevented her from defraying a N514, 800,000 debt incurred as cumulative costs in the course of an Aircraft Lease Agreement of a bombardier Jet. The father to the 10-year-old boy who was shot dead yesterday after being hit by a stray bullet from security operatives during the demolition of popular Eke-Ukwu market in Owerri, Imo state capital – has narrated his ordeal. The bereaved father was in tears at his No. 9 Oguamanam Street residence close to the demolished market. His words: “ I told my little son to come and assist me remove my goods from the shop before the people demolishing the market got to the place. “When we were crossing the road we all raised our hands up but these soldiers just drove by and opened fire and shot my son in the head. The bullet hit him in the eye and came out from the back of his head and he fell and died. “I want justice. I don’t want the killers of my son to go unpunished. He was just a little boy, he was not armed. I don’t know if I can bear this”

A 17-year-old girl has inflicted serious damage on her victim’s penis, ensuring that he will never assault another girl in the same manner. According to reports, the victim fought her attacker as she forced him to perform oral sex on his erect manhood. In the process of defending herself, she sunk her teeth into his manhood, leaving him with serious injuries. The Anti-Vandal team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Ogun State command, have arrested Abiodun Onipede pictured above, for attempting to commit suicide over his inability to refund a N50,000 ‘Lapo’ loan. Vanguard reports that Abiodun was arrested while attempting to use a rope tied to a tree to take his life inside a bush along Ayetoro road in Abeokuta. A member of the anti-vandal team who was about to ease himself in the bush, spotted Abiodun and raised an alarm.  When he was interrogated, 34-year-old Abiodun said he is a commercial Tricyclist and also a 200 level drop-out of Federal College of Education, Osiele. According to him, he had lost one of his children due to his inability to pay the hospital bills. He had raised money for the child surgery which was successful but, later lost him after complication. A Kenyan man who was caught burying his mother alive following a land dispute has been arrested by the Police in Kabuchai Constituency, Bungoma County. Residents of Siuno village in Kabuchai constituency responded to distress cries from an elderly woman on Thursday, August 24, when they found her being buried alive in a pit latrine that was halfway dug by her son. Mr. Chris Wamalwa. Daily Nation reports that Wamalwa was angry at his mother, Beatrice Nasaka, after she sold a piece of land that he was hoping to inherit. Pan-Igbo cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has condemned plans by the Federal government to revoke the bail of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, yesterday filed an application before the Federal High Court Abuja seeking for the revocation of Nnamdi Kanu's bail, arguing that the secessionist group leader has flouted all his bail conditions.  Reacting to the Federal government's application, the president-general of Ohaneze-Ndigbo, John Nwodo, in a statement released today, accused the Federal government of bias.
